Generous CHSA members raise £8,300 for charity

Members and sponsors of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) raised £8,300 at its Annual Gala Ball for the Chairman’s Charity, The Helping Treat Cancer Together Committee.

“Raising money for charity is at the heart of our ethos,” explained Stephen Harrison, Chairman of the CHSA and Managing Director of Harrison Wipes.

“This is the second year of our support for The Helping Treat Cancer Together Committee. Last year we raised a total of £8,500 so with this sum from the Gala Ball and our Annual Golf Day still to come, we’re well on the way to smashing that total!”

The Helping Treat Cancer Together Committee helps cancer patients with treatment costs the NHS will not fund where the patient’s doctors believe there is a reasonable chance the treatment will provide a cure, prolong life expectancy or improve quality of life.

A 42-year old wife, mother and sufferer of a rare cancer called placental site trophoblastic disease was funded through the charity last year. At stage four, immunotherapy was her final chance. The charity funded treatment and last autumn she received the ‘all clear’.

The charity has funded over 15 patients in the past year who required significant medical treatment, eight of whom are currently showing positive signs of improvement. It is hoped that in the coming months they too may be given the ‘all clear’.

100% of the funds received by the charity in the past year have gone directly to helping people.

“Yet again this year our members have shown their generosity,” explained David Garcia, Treasurer of the CHSA and Chairman of Polaris Plastics. “The money they have contributed will make a real difference to people whose treatment is no longer being funded by the NHS. We are extremely grateful for every single donation, large and small.

“An annual fixture, this year we moved the Gala Ball to a new venue – Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire. Attended by 200 people from the cleaning and hygiene supply chain the Gala Ball was a runaway success. We raised a large sum of money while enjoying a fun evening.”
