CHSA launches Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme to increase access to higher education

The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has established a new Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme open to the children of CHSA members’ employees. Applications are being sought from now (closing date 30th June 2016) with the first Scholarship commencing in September 2016.

The successful applicant will be awarded £1,500 per annum for three years. Once fully operational there will be three concurrent recipients a year, each at a different level of study.

To apply, young people must first complete the application form, available from the CHSA Secretariat. Applications will then be reviewed and a list of ‘candidates’ will be interviewed by the judging panel.

The successful applicant will be determined, able and committed to contributing to their local community. The criteria the judging panel will be looking for include such topics as need, worthiness, endeavor and overall impression.

The employees of CHSA members work hard and this Scheme provides us all with an opportunity to say thank you. Access to higher education is incredibly expensive and whilst this Scholarship obviously does not cover the whole cost, it does lift the pressure a little.

“The Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme also gives us a way to introduce the next generation of talent to our industry, should they so choose. Through the application process they come into contact with the cleaning and hygiene sector and will be able to find out about the career opportunities available. Our hope is that as a result they will come back to our industry on graduation although this of course is far from essential.

As well as the winner benefitting from the bursary, all entrants will gain worthwhile experience likely to help future job applications. Those interviewed will also receive valuable feedback on their interview technique.
